Advanced SWAT Training & Competition announces the 2010 US SWAT Sniper Championships (USSSC) will be held 21 & 22 June 2010 at the US Shooting Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The USSSC is separate from and will precede the US National SWAT Championships (USNSC).

The Competition
The competition will be six (6) live fire stages designed to test the combat marksmanship, physical fitness, teamwork and decision making of sniper teams. Skills with long gun, carbine and pistol will be challenged. The stages will be head-to-head and objectively scored based on stage completion time and target hits. All stages will be conducted in full gear: soft armor (LVL III), eye and ear protection, pistol belt with pistol/holster/extra magazine pouch/extra pistol magazine, BDU style uniform and duty boots (no running shoes). Snipers may wear soft caps, observers will be in helmets. Teams will use their own weapons and duty ammo (no steel core rounds, black tip, green tip or tracer ammo) and observation devices (binos/scopes). Optics on carbines are permitted. Officers will have one round per assigned target and penalized for misses. Long guns may not be larger than .308/7.62 caliber (no .338 or .50 cal guns). Weapons may be bolt or semi-automatic. A competition book will be sent to all registered teams prior to the competition.

Eligibility
The US SWAT Sniper Championships are open to all law enforcement and related agency sniper teams (DOE, DOS, federal, state, local). A sniper team will consist of a sniper and observer who must be sworn officers, have power of arrest in their jurisdictions and both team officers must be from the same department or operate on the same SWAT/tactical team (combined teams). Mixed jurisdictional teams where officers are not from the same operational unit are not permitted. Military sniper teams are not permitted unless they are both assigned to the same military police unit. Sniper teams do not have to participate in the USNSC to compete in the USSSC. Departments may enter more than one team (separate entry fees).

Registration and Prizes
Registration is $250 dollars per team and includes an awards banquet and competitor goody bag. Trophies will be awarded for first-third place teams with accompanying prize packages. Registration will be limited to the first 40 teams. To register click on the Registration button on the right side and follow the instructions. Registration will open 1 November 2009.
